Let's Connect!

Alex Rodriguez is a Cuban-born, Miami-raised stage director, actor, educator, and arts leader dedicated to creating bold, innovative, and deeply human theatrical experiences. His work thrives at the intersection of culture, community, and experience, often embracing non-traditional forms that invite audiences to engage, reflect, and feel a true sense of belonging. Whether directing a production or guiding an organization, he is driven to uplift diverse voices and craft stories that challenge assumptions, spark conversation, and celebrate our shared humanity.

Over the past decade, Alex has directed, performed, and collaborated across the country and internationally, bringing a wide-ranging artistic background that spans multiple disciplines and venues. As Co-Artistic Director of the Omaha Community Playhouse—one of the nation’s largest community-based nonprofit theatres—he helped lead the organization through meaningful transformation, including producing its first all-Latino/x show in its 100-year history, a landmark moment for cultural representation. He spent over a decade with Carnival Cruise Line Entertainment performing throughout Europe and the United States and was part of the inaugural teams of both Mardi Gras and Carnival Vista. He currently works as an Entertainment Project Manager (Vocal Supervisor) for Carnival Cruise Line, supporting the development and execution of entertainment experiences across the fleet.

Alex holds an MFA in Theatre Directing from Texas State University, named among The Hollywood Reporter’s Top 25 Drama Schools, and a BFA in Musical Theatre from Jacksonville University. As an educator, he has taught acting and directing at Texas State University and Marymount Manhattan College, nurturing the next generation of storytellers with rigor, empathy, and joy.

At the heart of Alex’s work is a guiding belief: that theatre is a living, breathing space for connection - a place where transformation takes root and where the beauty, complexity, and resilience of our communities can shine.
